Virtual sessions and workshop visits for French horn players sorting out equipment, technique, and the intersection of both.

A lot of horn problems get diagnosed twice: once by the player, once by the teacher. Neither diagnosis is quite right. Bruce's consulting work is for French horn players who've been chasing an issue long enough to know that a fresh set of ears (and hands) might help.

Consultation Options

Virtual consultation

A one-hour video session where you play, describe what you're hearing and feeling, and Bruce works through a diagnostic with you.

Useful for: figuring out whether the horn or the player is the source of an issue, deciding whether to modify an existing horn or start looking for a different one, prepping for a major audition, or making sense of longstanding equipment frustration.

Workshop visits

For players who can travel to California’s Bay Area, an in-person session at the workshop lets Bruce hear the horn in the room, put hands on it, and try things.

Half-day and full-day options. Some players come out to try commissioned horns during the build; others come with an existing horn and a question that needs the workshop's tools.

Come prepared to get your hands dirty!
